In the face of adversity and with increasing restrictions enforced due to the second wave of COVID-19 in the UK, we nonetheless managed to host our Mission to Seafarers Golf Day on the 25th of September 2020.
The event in celebration of World Maritime Day raised £11,250 for MtS, at a time when funding for core and emergency COVID-19 relief services are needed more than ever. Seafarers are bearing the brunt of this international crisis and the ensuing crew change challenges. Mental health issues have risen dramatically on-board vessels as the exhaustion of extended contracts and anxiety for their families back home takes its toll.
Playing were teams from Hill Dickinson, Lavinia Bulk, Arrow Ship Brokering, HFW, O’Keefe & Partners, The Baltic Exchange, Simpson Spence Young (SSY), AM Nomikos, BankServe, Hayfin Capital Management, Levgas SARL, Pacific Carrier Lines, Thurlestone Shipping and Lightship. SSY were declared proud victors of the tournament.
Coombe Hill Golf Club provided a beautiful environment for teams to socialise whilst socially distancing and the opportunity for the shipping community to come together as an industry after months in lockdown to raise funds for a worthy cause.
We would like to say a special thanks to Lavinia Bulk and Arrowship Brokering for sponsoring and organising the Mission to Seafarers Golf Day. In addition to The Baltic Exchange for supporting the event.
