The Mission to Seafarers is pleased to announce that Jan Webber has been named the new Director of Development taking over from Jos Standerwick who has been appointed as CEO of Maritime London.
Jan has spent 22 years in the voluntary sector, 11 of which have been in the maritime sector. She has covered the functions of fundraising, marketing and communications at local, regional, national and international levels. The charities she has represented have supported children and adults in the health, social welfare and education sectors.
On hearing of her appointment, Jan said, “I am delighted to be joining The Mission to Seafarers team, and I am eager to build upon the excellent work of Jos Standerwick. I look forward to working with Andrew Wright, Tom Boardley and the experienced and professional team of trustees, senior managers, staff and volunteers around the world to further the aims of the charity and help so many more seafarers and their families.”
The Mission to Seafarers Chairman Tom Boardley said on the appointment, “Jan is an excellent fundraiser, with a proven track record and is well regarded within the shipping industry. Her knowledge, experience and obvious passion for seafarers’ welfare meant she was the standout candidate to lead The Mission to Seafarers development function. I very much look forward to working with Jan and the rest of the Mission’s development team in the months and years ahead. “
Jan says what drives her is seeing the impact the Mission makes on the everyday lives of seafarers and their families and the pivotal role fundraising and marketing play in making this happen.
Jan said, “I am excited about the future and am ready to embrace the challenges that lie ahead. It’s great to be back in the industry where I have made so many friends.”
