Calling all those in shipping to join the maritime champions who have helped raise £68,000 through Global Champions Unite.
We would like to acknowledge all of our global champions, ICS Secretary General, Guy Platten, Ardmore Shipping, Anglo Ardmore, Thome Ship Management, Shell, Port of London Authority, Fratelli Cosulich Bunkers, and more.
Launched in April 2020, Global Champions Unite is an international campaign in which participants have 90 days to reach their challenge goal and raise their target. We have raised £68,000 through the campaign and the figure is still rising.
We would like to thank all the great champions of the maritime industry who have taken on a challenge themselves whilst in lockdown. Guy Platten, ICS Secretary General, ran a half marathon on his old treadmill on the 16th May raising £18,500 and we have had participants from all over the world take on challenges of all varieties.
Ardmore Shipping with their partners Anglo Ardmore and Thome Ship Management initiated Sporting for Seafarers, raising £14,500 over a month with the grand finale of their challenge taking place on International Day of a Seafarer. Port of London Authority and Fratelli Cosulich Bunkers also took on team initiatives for which The Mission is incredibly grateful.
All the funds raised from Global Champions Unite will contribute towards our Flying Angel Campaign, created in response to the Covid-19 crisis. The campaign includes our new Digital Chaplaincy, a Seafarers’ Happiness Index App, Mifi Units for onboard communications, PPE global provision, advocacy provision, and more. There is still time to take on a challenge of your own! Take part and help us support seafarers from around the globe.
As individuals or teams, you can design your challenge to suit you or your company whilst adhering to the government guidelines in your country so that we all stay safe and well. Please take a moment to explore this further.
