Andrew Huxley runs the London Marathon

30th April 2019

We are pleased to announce that the Mission to Seafarers was represented in the Virgin London Marathon, on Sunday 28th April by Andrew Huxley, who ran the epic 26.2 mile distance in just 4:16:37 and raised an incredible £3,033.55 for the charity.

Andrew Huxley has worked in the maritime insurance sector for the last 12 years with the Thomas Miller group, and so felt strongly about supporting The Mission to Seafarer’s valuable work, providing support to seafarers internationally. Andrew only took up running 5 years ago when he hit 50 and his wife persuaded him to participate in the local park run. In his words, “He couldn’t even run the 5k distance. The next year he did a couple of half marathons and before long became a regular and slightly above average for age runner!” Andrew has run two previous marathons. In November 2017 he ran in the Istanbul Marathon and finished in 4:11 and then last October he ran the Amsterdam Marathon in 3:59! You can check out the Power of 10 website where you can see Andrew’s successes.
