The Mission to Seafarers will be having its annual Christmas Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at All Hallows by the Tower Church, followed by a canapé and drinks reception at Trinity House.
This year the service will be held at All Hallows by the Tower “the oldest church in the City of London,” founded in AD 675. The church has a Mariners’ Chapel with an altar dedicated to “all seafarers who are in danger or distress” and features numerous models of ships and memorials to naval disasters.
For those joining the reception, Trinity House has an equally impressive maritime history and is itself a charity dedicated to safeguarding shipping and seafarers.
Our Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, sponsored by Shell, Rightship and Ardmore Shipping celebrates seafarers and their families. The carol service provides an opportunity to acknowledge this remarkable group of men and women, on whom we are all so dependent, at a time of year when many will spend Christmas far from family and friends. In the past, the Mission has welcomed guests from across the maritime industry in all its diversity, and we are sure this year will be no exception.
Please note: Doors open at 17:15, and we ask all guests to be seated by 17:45 so that the service may start at 18:00.
All proceeds help sustain our frontline welfare services and emergency assistance in almost 200 ports around the world. If you would like to make a donation to support our work, please click here
