The Mission to Seafarers seeks to appoint a new Chair of the Board to provide outstanding leadership of our Board of Trustees.
For over 165 years, we have been committed to the practical, emotional, and spiritual support to the world’s seafarers and their families. Today, operating in more than 200 ports in fifty countries, we support the world’s 1.89 million seafarers of all ranks, nationalities, and beliefs.
We seek an exceptional, strategic leader to lead our Board and to work closely with our Secretary General and executive team as we work towards our strategic objectives. This appointment represents a unique and compelling opportunity to help shape the future of a well-respected charity with deep heritage and global impact. The maritime industry is facing rapid change, and the new Chair will be key in guiding The Mission to Seafarers through its next strategic chapter, ensuring our services remain relevant and effective worldwide.
The successful candidate will succeed our current Chair upon their retirement in April 2026.

Commitment
This is a voluntary, non-executive role. Reasonable access to London will be required for attendance at quarterly Board meetings and to represent the charity at events. Some international travel will be required. Reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
