The Mission to Seafarers is delighted to invite applications for the role of Trustee and Member of the Audit and Risk Committee. We are here for the world’s 1.6 million seafarers in an ever-changing environment, contributing to a world in which every seafarer and their family, irrespective of faith or cultural background, will enjoy a high quality of wellbeing and the maximum opportunity to thrive and find fulfilment.

If you are a qualified and experienced maritime professional with knowledge of risk management, insurance, audit or internal controls, willing to join our Audit and Risk Committee, we want to hear from you.

The Charity is led by a high calibre Board of Trustees who provide appropriate oversight, strategic direction, expertise, support and contacts for the Mission’s work and hold meetings a minimum of four times a year (usually February, April, July and October). The Audit and Risk Committee normally meets twice a year with occasional ad hoc meetings as required.

Each Trustee term lasts for three years and Trustees may be appointed to the Board for up to three consecutive three-year terms. The time commitment for this role is circa eight days a year inclusive of attendance at Board meetings, membership of the Audit and Risk Committee, preparation for Board and committee meetings as well as ad hoc conversations with Board members or senior staff between formal meetings and attendance at events throughout the year.

We are especially keen to invite applications from female candidates and candidates from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities to ensure that our Board is diverse.
