The Flying Angel Campaign was launched in early June to raise £600K for much-needed services and equipment in response to the COVID-19 crisis. Funds raised are for PPE, minibus and centre adaptations, advocacy and digital chaplaincy, and much more. The urgently needed Digital Chaplaincy service was underway within three weeks, thanks to the generous support of Seafarers UK and the Marine Society. This service enables seafarers to reach the help they need as Chaplains face constraints with visiting ships. We have managed to maintain 40% of our ship visiting, mainly to gangways and safe distances, which continues to be of immense value to seafarers unable to get ashore for essential shopping and wifi. We are now preparing centres and vehicles to welcome seafarers into clean and safe environments.
We thank all those who have donated so far to help us reach our target, but there is so much more we need to do and we appeal to you to get in touch to add your name to the ever-growing list of corporate supporters.
Read the campaign’s impact report to see the difference we’re making through the generous donations we have received.
Please contact Jan Webber for a Campaign brochure and ways to help.
If you are a seafarer looking for help, then please contact your nearest chaplain or read our support pages.
