Charlie was a much-loved and respected former wireless operator on HMS Antic (W141), an Assurance Class Tug. He joined the Navy at the age of 16 in 1942 and served in the Atlantic from West Africa to Iceland for the remainder of WW2. A former captain of Chingford RFC and past president of both Chingford RFC & Hertford RFC, after playing in seven decades, he continued to give so much to the game and the club that he loved. He is missed by his family and friends. |
