iTechnology: Enhancing Crew Mental Health in the Digital Age, and what does this mean for safety.

(Postponed from April 2020 due to Covid-19)

The Mission to Seafarers is organising a key event during Singapore Maritime Week 2020 which covers the crucial topic of the impact of technology on seafarers’ mental health. We know that a seafarer with poor mental health can impact safety, efficiency and morale.

Building on the success of the event during London International Shipping Week (LISW2019) and in light of further developments, we propose to take this topic forward to a new platform of discussion in the Asian market.  Asia is a key hub of shipping business and provides the largest number of seafarers as well. There are many manning and crewing agents located here with close interaction and understanding of seafarers’ needs.

Key Note Speakers:

Dr Grahaeme Henderson, Vice President, Shipping & Maritime Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited

Nick Chubb, Founder of Thetius, maritime innovation consultancy

Other confirmed speakers include:

Ben Bailey (Director MtS), Fared Khan (Marine Director Wallem), David Barrow (VP for Marine & Offshore South Asia Zone, Bureau Veritas), Sandra Welch (Deputy CEO Sailors’ Society).
