The Mission to Seafarers is delighted to present its very own cross-curricular learning resource  for primary age school children - suitable for pupils aged between 5 and 11.

We are passionate about educating young people about the maritime industry and life at sea.  Here you will be able to find high quality, teacher-approved resources linked to the National  Curriculum.

The resource pack was written by Rosie McCreanor and Stella Murry, two global educators with  a specialism in development education. In the pack, we look at the roles of seafarers and what  they do for us through a range of games, worksheets and displays.

The resource is linked to the National Curriculum and has activities that cover:

  • English Language and Literacy
  • Mathematics and Numeracy
  • Art and design
  • RE
  • PHSE
  • Design and Technology
  • Geography/The World Around Us

Please note: One of the lessons in Section A, The Voyage of Emma, is temporarily unavailable. The link to the video has stopped working and we are trying to resolve this. Once we have, we will send you a link to a working video, so you can use the lesson. The lessons that follow on from The Voyage of Emma in Section A – (Sea of Emotions, Going on a Sea Voyage and Around the World by Sea Race Game) can still be used without the video.

We would love to hear from you if you have ideas which can enhance a child's learning experience about life at sea. Please contact our Community and Ports Fundraising Manager, Joseph O'Neill - [email protected] or +44(0)20 7246 2939.

The resource is free to download and use in your classroom, but we do ask that you fill in the form below to access the education pack.

By downloading the resource, you are giving us permission to contact you to ask for feedback and discuss ways in which the pack can be improved. Please see our Privacy Policy here.
