Communications Manager

  • Location: London
  • Salary: £33 - 36k depending on experience + benefits
  • Closing date for applications (CV + 500 word supporting statement): 12 noon on Monday 7th October 2019

Are you looking for your next challenge where you can be part of an innovative and exciting team?

Do you feel you have much to offer and have untapped potential?

We are looking for someone who is excited about the challenges each new day brings. Someone who is keen to explore new horizons yet can keep their feet on the ground and play an active part in formulating the marketing and communications strategy for the Mission.

Working with the Director of Development you will develop and implement the internal and external marketing, targeted communications and a robust digital communications strategy.

You will be coordinating, writing and editing supporter publicity and the publication of our Flying Angel News newsletter, taking a key role in producing marketing materials and working on marketing campaigns for the charity.

As the guardian of our brand and the ‘go-to’ person, you will be working to improve and maximise the Mission’s reach.

You will also manage the Digital Communications Officer who is responsible for managing the social media channels and updating the website.

The Mission to Seafarers is an international Christian maritime charity.  It has become one of the largest port-based welfare operators in the world working in over 200 ports in  50 countries.  Our frontline staff visit ships, offer hospitality, drive minibuses and engage in a range of other welfare activity.  Seafarers spend up to nine months away from home and the Mission offers a friendly face and a helping hand to those in port.  We help seafarers who are stranded or abandoned, assist with justice cases and support their families.

The Communications Manager role is based in London, near Cannon Street Station and offers flexible working, generous pension, and 25 days’ holiday a year.
