Napier - Our Port

Napier is the port city near the southern tip of Hawke Bay in New Zealand's North Island.  It is today a beautiful modern city, having recovered from a terrible earthquake in February 1931. 

The short walk from the port to the central business district is short and pleasant. During the day banks and shops are open until about 1730 but after that time most of them close for the night.

It takes about 20 minutes to walk to supermarkets and fast food outlets. These stay open until midnight. But they are on the other side of the business district and you can get directions from the Seafarers' Centre.
