Marsden Point - Our Port

Marsden Point is situtated at the mouth of the Whangarei Harbour on the east coast of Northland, New Zealand. The only oil refinery in NZ is here and there are also three general cargo berths at the adjacent Northport facilities. Free transport to the Centre is available from Northport on all evenings and also in the afternoons of Saturday and Sunday. The Seafarers' Community Centre is a modern building (opened in Feb 2006) and has 3 telephone lines, 2 pool tables and a table tennis table. Comfortable furniture and free tea/coffee make it a welcoming place. Other than the Seafarers' Community Centre, the nearest shopping centre and hotel are 6 km away at Ruakaka requiring a taxi (7 pasengers) for transport at a cost of about USD 15 each way. The nearest city (Whangarei), is 40 km distant with taxi fares of approximately USD 50 each way.
